Ehow is Messing with Me – Another Article Sweep

Okay. I am all about Ehow and I have honestly agreed with the articles of mine that have been deleted up until this point. The ones that have been deleted were deserving. They were articles I had put up when I had just begun my career of web writing. But this time…I have a problem with an article they deleted. Problem being: It was a requested article that THEY had to APPROVE before it went live. It was very well written, contained actionable steps that you could perform to complete the said task.

What really makes me mad is that they just delete articles without giving writers the chance to edit and re-submit them. I’m all for getting rid of content that is sub-par, but I don’t understand why or how articles that were requested articles can be approved, stay live for months and then get deleted.

I wrote another article about a popular application on Facebook and that one got deleted as well. That one I had written recently and it made perfect sense. Why it was deleted, I have no idea. It wasn’t a huge earner, but it did generate thousands of page views in a very short time. It had actionable steps about how to do something in that specific game.

I’m so thankful that I always save copies of all articles that I publish online. What I will do is go in and look over the article that was deleted, fix it up if necessary and publish it elsewhere. One of my favorite places to do that is InfoBarrel.

Another thing that makes me mad is that when your article is deleted, Ehow will redirect to a DS article title or to a page that contains articles that are related to the one that was deleted, with the DS titles towards the top of the page and the other Ehow articles underneath. I guess it’s a smart move for them, but I guess I just really wish that they would put articles back into draft status, rather then deleting them entirely from my account.

A part of me is afraid that the DS titles are going to make up the majority of the articles there pretty soon. If you aren’t familiar with DS (Demand Studios), it’s actually the parent company of the Ehow site and they hire freelance writers to write articles for various sites, including Ehow, for upfront pay and they are looked over by editors before they are published. Once they are published on the Ehow site, Ehow gets all of the revenue from them.

Anyway, after this latest sweep I am once again under 200 articles. I’m now at 195. So I’m going to submit another 5 or 6 articles in the very near future and see if Ehow comes back and attacks me again because I have over 200 articles. It seems dumb, but it just seems weird to me that I get articles deleted from a sweep very shortly after having 200 or more published.

Ehow is a great place to submit how-to articles, but I really wish they’d change the way they are reviewing articles for the sweeps. I wish they’d give the writers a chance to re-do their articles and resubmit. And most of all, don’t delete top requested articles that have been previously approved.
