Going on a Xomba Spree
Xomba is a website where its users can write short articles of at least 50 words, called Xomblurbs or longer articles of at least 150 words, called Xombytes. Adsense ads are placed alongside your articles and this is what enables you to earn some extra money. More specifically, users earn 50% of the Adsense revenue. Basically, your own Adsense ads will be shown 50% of the time and Xomba’s Adsense ads will be shown 50% of the time. You must have an Adsense account linked to your Xomba account to start earning.
A few other benefits to note:
- They have a referral program – if you refer somebody to the site you’ll receive 10% of their earnings. This is taken directly from Xomba’s cut.
- You can create Xomblurbs or Xombytes that link to other articles, blogs or sites you have online. This will give you the chance to earn one backlink and may even give you some extra traffic.
**I used the SearchStatus plugin for Firefox to test whether Xomba is a do-follow or no-follow site. If you put links directly into your article itself, those will NOT be do-follow links. But if you fill out the URL box when you fill out the article, that link WILL be do-follow and that link will appear at the very end of your article.
I initially joined Xomba about 6 months ago and I added just a handful of Xomblurbs to the site to see how they’d perform. Then I added a URL channel in my Adsense account so I could track my Xomba earnings. I began getting views right away but I wasn’t seeing any Adsense impressions – which also means no clicks. This frustrated me so I stopped adding new articles to the site. I couldn’t figure out why I wasn’t earning anything.
Just recently (about 2 days ago) I went into my Xomba account to make sure I had entered my Adsense publisher ID correctly and I in fact, had NOT. The Adsense publisher number looks something like this: pub-xxxxxxxxxxxxx. I had only entered the numbers (the x’s) and it is required that you also enter the “pub-” part. Now I’m seeing impressions, though I have yet to get any clicks. I’m used to only having to enter the numbers part whenever I’m asked to link my Adsense account, so entering it this way was a bit new to me.
So NOW I will be continuing to add new Xomblurbs for every blog post, article and website I currently have online. This will help me to gain backlinks, traffic and hopefully some Xomba earnings as well. It’s always nice when you can make some extra money just for creating backlinks to other articles and sites. Hopefully my December earnings will yield some extra cash generated from Xomba!
