I Finally Got My Turn With Ehow :(
If you are currently a contributor over at Ehow, you know that they have been seriously cleaning up the site lately. I was waiting for my turn and it finally happened yesterday. I logged in to find that I was 22 articles short of what I had the day earlier. So I went from 212 back down to 190. Boo!
It’s a little frustrating but I can understand why they’re doing it. They state on their site that they want actionable steps and many “How-to’s” on the site are in list form and that isn’t how they want their content written. It’s kind of a blessing in disguise for me because most of my deleted ones did have some earnings, but they weren’t anywhere near any of my big earners and now I can publish them elsewhere to make money. I’m thinking Bukisa. My earnings have been increasing there lately. I might add some to InfoBarrel too. Maybe I’ll put half on Bukisa and half on InfoBarrel and see what happens.
If you have had articles deleted and aren’t sure which ones they were, here is how I figured it out:
- I went into my earnings for March and printed off the entire list
- Then I went into my article list and compared the printed list to the articles currently published
- I wrote down all of the titles that were on the earnings list, but not currently published (those are the deleted ones obviously)
- I put each title in quotes into google, found the article and clicked on “cached” text link to see the article in its entirety (if you click the article’s title that has been deleted it will just link to a different page within Ehow)
I’m sure by now there are Ehow articles about how to do this as well.
It is frustrating, but if you’re saving copies of your articles (which you should be doing anyway) at least you can now publish them elsewhere and still earn some money with them.

I’m kind of holding my breath — hasn’t happened to me yet but it could any day, right? In the mean time I am focusing on my niche sites — where I control the content.
I still love eHow, but I want it to be only one of the eggs in a full basket, with many income streams balancing eachother.

I noticed that the ones that got deleted either had a brand name in them or were more of a list than actual ‘how-to steps’, so I can see why they were deleted. Now I just know to be more careful and with my new articles I make sure that each of my steps start with a verb. It helps keep me focused.
I’m also working more with niche sites and other revenue sharing sites and I do still love Ehow as well, but them deleting articles was a real eye opener as far as making sure to not rely on 1 site for income. So it was a bit of a blessing in disguise for me.
