My 30 Hubs in 30 Days Experiment: Week 1 Overview
It has been 1 full week since I began publishing hubs to Hubpages. I am hopeful yet discouraged. I have published a total of 15 hubs and out of those 15 hubs, I’m only seeing 1 of them in the SERPs right now. I should note that 2 of the 15 hubs were actually published prior to me starting the challenge and it’s one of those 2 that is indexed. I haven’t fully decided if those will be a part of my 30 in 30, but I figure they might as well be. The other 14 have yet to be indexed by Google.
This means that during this next week I will plan on building at least 1 backlink to each hub in hopes that Google will crawl and hopefully index my site. I thought Hubpages articles were indexed fairly quickly but I’ve been reading that some aren’t being indexed for a week or more, so I will be patient. My primary focus is to publish hubs, but since I’m further ahead than I thought I would be, I should have some time to spend on building backlinks this week.
Earnings
I have a big fat goose egg to report. My lifetime earnings stand at $0.00. Like I said, I had published 2 hubs, but it was only about 2 weeks prior to me starting this challenge. I did not have an established account and only 1 of them has been indexed, so I’m just thinking about including them in the challenge. I might still just publish an extra 2 hubs for a total of 32 to make it really fair.
Number of Views
During the past 7 days I have a total of 86 views of all 15 hubs. It’s spread pretty evenly across the board. There isn’t any 1 hub that is getting all of the traffic, they’re all pretty even right now. I am sure that’s because of the traffic sources, which I will get into.
Adsense Impressions
My hubs have received a total of 14 Adsense impressions. One of the ways people earn money from their hubs is from the Google Adsense program. Hubpages will give hubbers (people who create hubs) a total of 60% of the Adsense impressions and their Adsense code will be shown the other 40% of the time. Now I am somewhat of a goof and just started tracking hubpages in my Google Adsense account. I thought I had set it up right away and I went to check my stats a couple days ago and I had not. So those 14 impressions occurred within the last about 48 hours, if that.
Sources of Traffic
The only source of traffic I have so far is from the hubpages website itself. What I’m looking for is search engine traffic. Those people are more likely to be looking for something and they are more likely to click on the ads. Since I only have 1 hub so far that is even indexed, I’m not even getting any search engine traffic just yet. I hope that will change during these next couple of weeks!
What I’ve Learned So Far
- Even though I haven’t earned anything yet, I’m confident that these hubs will begin to perform once they begin to show up in the search engine’s result pages – Google in particular.
- I’ve noticed that if I publish multiple hubs every day, that my overall hubber score will dip a little bit. If I publish hubs every other day, my score is more likely to increase. I’m not sure why that would be, maybe because there are spammers out there who publish a large amount of crappy hubs all in one day? I have published 13 in just 7 days, but I don’t think that’s crazy. I have spent about 30 to 60 minutes per hub on average and they are all between 400-700 words of original content.
- Patience is key. It takes time for things to get indexed sometimes, so I will do my best to be patient. I am nowhere near giving up.
I will be back in 1 week for another update!
